That time of year is here again where the weather is changing but it’s not quite summer. Most of us, if we are honest, avoid salad in the colder months as they don’t bear nearly the appeal as when the summer heat has set in and refreshing, light food is what we crave. I’ve tried a few times over the winter to ‘get my salad’ on with abysmal failure. Want to know why? It’s a dressing issue for me.

After starting to make my own dressing, store bought dressings just don’t seem to measure up. When I can muster the 5 minutes to make dressing, I’m all over salad. But I guess I’m sort of, well, lazy. We’ll chalk it up to hibernation inclinations (it’s really just being lazy, don’t let me food you).

I have oodles of great salad recipes and dressing recipes here on Boulder Locavore. It struck me I might be more motivated if I had a list of dressing recipes handy when I’m lacking inspiration (and being lazy). Maybe you’ll feel that way too. Some of these include seasonal ingredients but fortunately even those are available year round in some stores or on Amazon. Some of the dressings are paired with a particular salad but can be used with any tossed green salad too. Let me know which are your favorites!

Some of my kids are HUGE salad fans. This is great to have so I can change things up a little bit! I know I’d get tired of the same salads all the time so this will be great to keep on hand!

We are alway looking for new dressings and get out of our “Ranch” mode. The Spicy Peanut dressing sounds like a great start!
