Easy Frozen Yogurt Popsicles
Popsicles for breakfast?!
We say Y.E.S!
When in the midst of summer’s heat the idea of eating much for breakfast is often unappealing.
No one wants to cook and the heat can kill an appetite.
These creamy texture popsicles are like a frozen smoothie on a stick.
Fresh pureed peaches, honey-flavored Greek yogurt and some granola which softens as the popsicles freeze making a sweet, tart popsicle with great texture.
Fruit yogurt popsicles are a great alternative for sugar-packed store bought popsicles and very easy to make.
Great to start the day or any time during the day for a wholesome snack. These frozen treats can even be swapped for ice cream!
No Popsicle Mold Required
Instead of using fancy popsicle molds for these yogurt popsicles we went old school with bathroom size Dixie cups.
We love the plump size and how easy they are to make.
Any popsicles can be made this way if you’d rather skip using a mold.
If you have some leftover cups save them to make our Hot Chocolate Pops during the holiday!
Recipe Ingredients + Notes
Only three ingredients are used to make these wholesome popsicles!
Peaches. Fresh, ripe peaches are blended into a puree to flavor the popsicles. If the peaches are sweet and ripe, no sweetener is required.
Yogurt. We used honey-flavored greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is thicker and rich in flavor giving the yogurt popsicles a creamy consistency.
Full fat Greek yogurt will be the creamiest but lower fat can also be used. Other flavors can also be used.
Granola. We added some granola for texture and nutrition. Any brand, store bought or homemade can be used.
Supplies Needed
Though this popsicle recipe can be frozen in a traditional mold we went old school with the needed supplies.
Bathroom size (3-ounces) Dixie cups are used. They make a pleasing chunky shape.
Wooden taster spoons are used for the stems although traditional popsicle sticks, whole or cut in half, would work too.
Foil will hold the sticks in place until the ice pops are frozen.
Though they are a fantastic way to start a hot day they are a great treat anytime!
Variations
Use different fruit. Any summer fruits would be delicious. Fresh strawberries, raspberries, melon, nectarines. Any soft fruits that can be blended into a puree will work.
Use flavored yogurts. Choose a fruit flavored yogurt to complement the fruit you’ll add.
Use plain yogurt. If preferred plain yogurt can also be used for a more tart flavor.
Don’t like granola? You can leave it out for a smoother texture. It will decrease the number of popsicles the batch will yield until you add more yogurt or puree.
Want them sweeter? Add some honey or maple syrup before making the popsicles. Strawberry simple syrup could even be used for peach strawberry popsicles!
How to make them – Step-by-Step
STEP 1. Make the peach puree
Place the peeled, pitted ripe peaches in the blender and puree.
STEP 2. Mix the ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the ingredients and stir together.
STEP 3. Add to Dixie cups
Evenly distribute the yogurt popiscle mixture between the Dixie cups.
Add a small piece of foil on top. Make a small slit with a paring knife.
Insert the popsicle stick.
STEP 4. Freeze
Place the popsicles in the freezer and freeze until solid.
Remove the foil and peel away the Dixie cup when serving.
Pro Tips
Use ripe peaches. If peaches aren’t quite ripe they will be hard and will not easily pulverize into a puree. The riper the sweeter they’ll be too!
Place cups on a rimmed baking sheet. If there is room in your freezer, place the cups on a rimmed baking sheet before filling them. This keeps them stable when filling and in the freezer.
