    Recipe Ingredients + Notes

Caramel Dip. This embellished dessert dip starts with prepared caramel dip that is available at the grocery store usually sold in the produce department. It’s not the same as caramel sauce. Use room temperature

Chopped nuts. We used peanuts and pecans. Any favorite nuts can be used. Be sure to chop well so they can be easily scooped up by the apples when dipping.

Mini chocolate chips. Mini size are perfect for dipping.

Mini M&Ms. These add a colorful appearance and the size is best for dipping.

What is the best brand of caramel dip?

There are several well known brands available at grocery stores including grocery store brands. Here are some favorite options:

Marzetti Old Fashioned Caramel Dip. This dip is a consumer favorite. It comes in different types and is gluten-free.

Litehouse Old Fashioned Caramel Dip. Also gluten-free.

Simply Concord Caramel Dip. Made with wholesome ingredients, no artificial flavors or colors. Gluten-free.

    What to use for dipping?

Apple slices. Tart Granny Smith apples are both pretty in bright green apples and the tart flavor contrasts with the sweetness of the dip. A mix of sweet and tart apples is great too.

Graham Crackers. Regular or gluten-free. See the note about serving a mixed group below.

Cookies. Ginger snaps, vanilla wafers or other favorite cookies.

    Variations

Caramel Apple Nachos. You can switch the ingredients around and make a fun fresh apple nachos dish! Place sliced apples on a serving tray. Drizzle the caramel apple dip over the apples and sprinkle on the nuts, chocolate chops and M&M’s.

Caramel Apple Cheesecake Dip. To make an extra rich creamy dip first add a softened block (8-ounces) of cream cheese to the serving bowl or side. Spread into a layer. Add the caramel dip on top of the cream cheese and the toppings on top of the caramel.

Toffee bits. Add some toffee bits to the topping or swap them in for one other other ingredients.

Over ice cream. If you have leftovers it’s great over ice cream!

How to Make Caramel Apple Dip

No fussy candy thermometer steps are needed for this creamy caramel apple dip recipe!

caramel apple dip recipe steps 1-4

Add the caramel dip to a serving bowl (photo 1) or serving dish (a pie plate works great). Top with the chopped nuts (photo 2), mini chocolate chips, and mini M&Ms (photo 3).

Serve with fresh apple slices (photo 4).

    Pro Tips

Toss apple slices with some lemon juice. If serving this homemade caramel apple dip at a gathering toss the apple slices in lemon juice if they’ll be sitting out. This helps prevent them from browning.

Serving a mixed gluten group. If serving the dip to a mixed group of gluten and gluten-free people be sure to either only serve gluten-free dipping ingredients or have two dips; one with only gluten-free dipping items. This prevents cross contamination for those gluten-free for medical need.

    How to Store it

Store any leftovers in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator. Allow the dip to come to room temperature before serving.
