Recipe Ingredients + Notes
Frozen Mango. Using frozen mango thickens the smoothie without using ice! Frozen mango chunks are available with the frozen fruit at the grocery store.
Pineapple. Use fresh, ripe pineapple. You can cut your own or buy prepared pineapple at the grocery store.
Coconut milk. We use coconut milk in a carton (specially Silk brand ‘original’ coconut milk) and any brand will work.
We don’t suggest canned coconut milk or sweetened coconut milk. Coconut milk in the carton has water added so it’s lighter in flavor but also has less fat.
Mango juice or mango nectar. Mango has a distinct flavor but is not overly sweet so we use some mango juice to pump up the mango flavor.
Optional toppings. Coconut flakes can be sprinkled on top if desired (they are a favorite toppings).

Variations
Swap in fresh mango for the pineapple. For a full mango flavor add some fresh mango instead of pineapple to this fresh fruit smoothie.
Add some protein powder. If you use protein powder in your smoothie recipes add some in this one too.
Try almond milk. Swap the coconut milk out for some almond milk for a different flavor. Your favorite non-dairy milk or dairy milk all work.
Use some Greek yogurt. Mango lassi lovers will love a tangy addition to this creamy smoothie. You can even use mango Greek yogurt for more mango flavor. Or try coconut yogurt for a dairy-free option.
Orange juice. Substitute some orange juice for part of the coconut (or all of it if you aren’t a coconut lover).
Pineapple juice. This smoothie is delicious with pineapple juice instead of mango juice too. The mango flavor isn’t as strong but it’s a wonderful tropical smoothie.
Chia seeds. Some chia seeds sprinkled on top will bump up the protein of the healthy mango smoothie too!

Pro Tips
Use frozen fruit instead of ice in smoothies. Adding frozen banana to smoothies gives a thick, creamy texture without ice cubes.
Using other frozen fruits, as in the frozen mango for this smoothie, does the same thing! It makes a thicker smoothie without any ice crystals.
Sweeten if needed. Mango and pineapple can be very sweet or hardly sweet at all. After making the smoothie if it needed sweetening use honey or agave nectar which will both blend well into the prepared creamy mango smoothie.
