Why you’ll love this Crock Pot Hot Chocolate!

    • It’s very easy! All the ingredients are combined to cook slowing over a few hours.
    • It’s a great flavor change up from regular hot chocolate! The strawberry hot chocolate flavor is delicious.
    • Great for winter or Valentine’s Day!
    • It makes rich, creamy hot chocolate
    • An easy big batch recipe for gatherings, special occasions or a hot chocolate bar. Can easily make a double batch in a 6 quart slow cooker.
    • As easy as using hot chocolate mix

    Recipe Ingredient Notes

Whole Milk. Any fat content milk can be used though we love it with whole milk for a richer cup of hot cocoa.

Heavy Cream. The recipe uses 2 cups of heavy whipping cream. If you’d prefer a slightly less rich cup of cocoa Half & Half could be substituted.

White chocolate chips. These add the white chocolate flavor to the crock pot hot chocolate.

Strawberry Syrup. Use the type of strawberry syrup used for milk (like Hershey’s brand).

We’ve included an option to make your own strawberry simple syrup with fresh strawberries if desired.

How to make Crock Pot Hot Chocolate – Step-by-Step

    Detailed printable recipe card below.

Pour the milk and cream in the slow cooker (photo 1).

Add the white chocolate chips and strawberry syrup to the slow cooker and stir to combine the ingredients (photos 2-3).

strawberry crock pot hot chocolate recipe steps 1-4

Place the lid on the slow cooker and set to cook on low for at least 3 hours. Slowly whisk the hot chocolate to mix the melted white chocolate into the drink and give it a good stir before serving (photo 4).

    Variations

Swap in milk chocolate chips. To make a traditional hot chocolate use semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips. And use chocolate syrup instead of strawberry.

Use homemade Strawberry Simple syrup. If you don’t mind take a bit more time you can make strawberry simple syrup and use that. It’s and easy recipe made with fresh strawberries, sugar, and water. It’s a great simple syrup to have on hand for other recipe and cocktails.

Sweetened condensed milk. If you want to sweeten the white hot chocolate for a richer chocolate flavor you can stir in some sweetened condensed milk to taste into the slow cooker recipe when it’s done (taste before adding it so as to not over sweeten).

Use a different milk fat percentage. Feel free to swap in a lower fat percentage milk like 1%, 2% or low-fat milk if desired. The fat effects the richness of the recipe.

    How to Serve

Serve with mini marshmallows, regular marshmallows or whipped cream on top.

    Drink it Cold!

Any chilled leftovers can be rewarmed OR enjoyed cold too! It’s delicious either way.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use strawberry milk powder instead of syrup?

You can though we have found the syrup blends in with the other ingredients better. Just make sure it completely dissolved by whisking. You’ll need to ‘flavor to taste’ meaning using enough powder to achieve the strawberry flavor to your personal preference

Can dairy-free milks be used in this recipe?

We’ve only made it using dairy milk but plant and dairy-free milk should also work. Depending on the milk used, for instance coconut milk, it may change the flavor slightly and the consistency may not be as rich and creamy.

    How to Store

Store any leftover hot chocolate in an airtight container or Mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in microwave-safe mugs in the microwave until warmed through or on the stove top over medium-low heat.
