Our focus in the Boulder Locavore kitchen has shifted to December and the magic of the holidays. Cookie baking has always been a Christmas tradition for our family. After all poor Santa must burn many calories on his speedy trip around the world. Never let it be said we did not contribute to his nocturnal intake of 3 billion cookies!
The tides turned when we became gluten-free however. Old favorite recipes for cookies don’t always convert easily when changing to being gluten-free. Baking at our Colorado altitude can throw a wrench into things as well. When scouring the internet for gluten-free recipes one would hope to find a variety of options just as if they were gluten eaters. It can be tricky to find options that appeal, are gluten-free and feel like holiday baking.
Fortunately I’m acquainted with some very talented gluten-free bloggers who always deliver. Additionally with the growing awareness of gluten-free needs many of the premier food magazines offer unique as well as traditional favorite recipes including holiday cookies. I first posted a ‘Christmas cookie countdown’ last year and it was wildly popular. I’ve reprised it again for 2014 with an all new set of recipes AND a fun baking giveaway of some favorite things as well!

I guess I’m blind, I don’t see any instructions on how to be eligible for this giveaway. So, I’ll follow everyone else and write that I didn’t get pumpkin cheesecake at TDay, so I’ll just have to make it myself! Also, every year: Lime Meltaways, Candy Cane cookies, Chocolate Crinkles (cherished memory of my mommy), and at least a couple variations of Marshmallow Treats. New last year and requested strongly: Saltine Toffee Chocolate Bark. (It has an internet name, but I can’t remember it. Originally, made with matzoh, but others changed recipe to saltine crackers, which I prefer for cost, availability and ease of use.) Have already used my sourdough starter for Parker House rolls (love to peel them apart); am testing cinnamon rolls for Boxing Day party (proofing as I write). So, I’d love better baking tools. (Need that pan: Haven’t made Buche de Noel in years!)

Hi Jenna. I’m sorry you have found the giveaway entry confusing. To enter the giveaway you need to access the entry criteria on the Rafflecopter giveaway widget (the large box with the giveaway title, photo of the giveaway and the entry amounts on the top; at the bottom of the blog post) by logging in with your Facebook information or entering your email address. The different options of entry are described there as well as tracked for random selection of the giveaway prize. You’ll need to do that for your comment to be accounted for as a possible entry. Hope that helps.
