Graham crackers for servingsregular or gluten-free
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Grease a 8-inch oven safe skillet or an 8x8 inch casserole dish with the butter (you may not use it all).
Layer the chocolate into the pan in two layers filling the entire pan or baking dish bottom.
Add the marshmallows or Peeps on top, snugly together.
Bake for 2-3 minutes, or until the marshmallows have plumped up and are lightly brown on the top. Do not over bake.
Remove from oven and serve immediately with graham crackers or other cookies for dipping.
Notes
The high heat imitates the effect of a campfire toasting the marshmallows on the outside and leaving in the inside soft and gooey. The chocolate will melt underneath.Monitor the pan while cooking so the marshmallows do not burn. Ovens can vary too making monitoring important.Marshmallow Notes
*at the writing of this recipe this is the number of Peeps bunnies (18) that fit into the specified pan size.
Marshmallows can vary in size (not all 'regular' marshmallows are the same size) as well as manufacturers can change the size under the same name over time.
Always allow some extra marshmallows in case they are needed to fill the pan.
Marshmallows should fit snugly together for best results.
LeftoversThis s’mores dip is best enjoyed the day that it is made. It can be baked a second time though the texture and result will not be as good.
