Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 10-ounce package Mini marshmallows for strawberry flavor see the NOTES below
  • 1 1.5-ounce container Pink cotton candy
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies type cereal regular or gluten-free
  • Pink, red and white sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a 9 x 13 pan or baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Heat the butter in a large sauce pan over medium low heat. When the butter is melted, add the marshmallows. Stir constantly until marshmallows are melted.
  • Remove the pan from stove top. Lower heat to low and add the cotton candy in very small pieces, stirring between each addition. Stir until all the cotton candy has melted.
  • Add the cereal to the pan and stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Spread the cereal mixture over the pan. Press the mixture into the pan until it becomes solid.
  • Decorate with sprinkles and use your hand to press the sprinkles into the rice krispie treats if desired.
  • Allow the treats to cool completely, around 30 minutes, before cutting into bars.

Notes

To use Strawberry Marshmallows
  • Use Strawberry Marshmallows (regular size) 10-ounces. They come in 8-ounce packages so you’ll need 2 packages but won’t use them all.
  • Use regular or  gluten-free rice krispie cereal.
  • Follow the recipe as written. They will be pretty with a tan, pink and darker pink palette.
Where to Buy
  • Strawberry marshmallows can be found at stores around Valentine's Day or online
  • Pink cotton candy. Cotton candy can be purchased at stores like Target or Walmart or online
Pro Tips
Don't press too hard on the cereal mixture when adding it to the pan. The harder you press, the harder the finished treats will be.
Use a light touch just to unsure they create an even layer. They should feel solid but not rock hard.
Crumple parchment then smooth it out. Will adhere to the pan shape better.
Can these treats be made with marshmallow fluff?
We have only made this recipe as written with actual marshmallows.
Unfortunately we've never made them with marshmallow fluff to provide that guidance.
How do you cut rice crispy treats?
Use a sharp knife to cut into bars. Cookie cutters lightly greased with butter work well too.
How to Store
Store at room temperature in an airtight container. Add a layer of parchment or wax paper between layers to keep them from sticking together.
Enjoy within 5 days for best freshness!
Can you freeze Rice Krsipy Treats?
To preserve the soft chewy texture of the treats freezing is not recommended.
