Hearty Slow Cooker Turkey Chili is brimming with lean ground turkey, smoldering spices and sweet potato cubes. A delicious contrast of sweet and spicy flavors in a wholesome easy chili recipe.

1poundground turkey
115-ounce cancan diced tomatoeswith the juice
1 14.5-ounce cankidney beansdrained and rinsed
1 14.5-ounce canblack beansdrained and rinsed
2cupspeeled, cubed sweet potatoes
1mediumyellow oniondiced
2cupschicken or vegetable brothlow sodium recommended
2tablespoonstomato paste
1tablespoongarlic powder
1tablespoonchili powder
2teaspoonsground cumin
1teaspoonkosher salt
½teaspoonground black pepper
½teaspoonground cayenne pepperoptional for extra heat
Juice of half a lime
Optional Toppings (choose one or more if desired)
lime wedges
jalapeno slices
torn fresh cilantro
crushed tortilla chips
sour cream or crema
Instructions
In a medium size skillet, brown the ground turkey over medium-high heat, breaking into small pieces, until cooked through. Drain any excess fat and set aside. NOTE: there may not be any excess fat to drain.
In the bottom of the slow cooker, drizzle the oil and then add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, cooked turkey, sweet potatoes, onion, broth and seasonings. Stir to combine and cover.
Cook on HIGH HEAT for 3-4 hours orLOW HEAT for 5-6 hours, stirring occasionally.
Once the chili has finished cooking, turn off the heat and stir in the lime juice. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings, enjoy!
