Those of you who have been reading for a bit may remember my star crossed meeting with Robin Chocolates. I found we were both on a Twitter list for Colorado ‘Food People’. I contacted her wanting to do a blog article on her. I went to her culinary kitchen, learned more about her, making chocolate and tasted her wears. A dream come true. Please click here to learn more and live vicariously through my visit.
We’ve kept in touch which is hard to do. She has been at chocolate shows all fall. Scoring chocolate awards like Michael Phelps at the last summer Olympics. Selling in more and more stores. I am about to request we put a tracking device on her to keep her whereabouts known.
Got my favorite Valentine’s love letter ever last week. From Robin. It read:
“In the process of setting up V’day stuff. If you want to preview it in a couple weeks I can give you the premiere viewing & tasting ”
‘IF I want to preview?’ I would consider that a rhetorical question. I caught her on the phone as she was booking a room for yet another chocolate show. I believe it is virtually impossible to do one thing at a time in her world despite continuing to add more employees. Keeping pace with her success has become an aerobic event for her. ‘When it says shared bathroom what does that mean to you?’ she asked. ‘That you should not stay there’, I replied.
In addition to the shows and accolades, she is working on Valentine’s Day. As you might imagine, a pressing holiday for chocolatiers. She did let me inside the fold on what’s in the works. Two new chocolates: a Walnut Cream chocolate and Chocolate Dipped Cherries (molded, no stem and soaked in brandy first). Decadent chocolate covered brownies, bite size. Just in case this does not sound good to you, let me provide a few visuals…..
Being a holiday about love, Robin is spreading some to your benefit. She has generously offered to do a giveaway on Boulder Locavore of an approximate $40 value. She’s offering a basket of chocolates which will contain a 12 piece box of chocolates,
A ‘turtle train’ (a signature box of three caramel turtles; ‘to die’ I can affirm)
2 salted caramel lollipops, dipped in chocolate and a SURPRIZE. Not even I know what that will be but know it will be fabulous.
Here’s the scoop. Leave a comment if you’d like to enter (due to shipping chocolate, U.S. residents only, I’m sorry!). Extra entry opportunities:
1. List any other ways you follow me: Facebook, Twitter (@BoulderLocavore), Google Reader (one entry for each). If you already are, just note which.
2. Follow Robin Chocolates on Facebook and/or Twitter (@RobinChocolates). One entry for each.
Make it easy for yourself. One comment is fine, just put it all in there. You have a possible 6 entries. Woo Hoo! Entries will be accepted through midnight Saturday January 15. I will post the winner on the upper right ride of my blog Sunday January 16 and Robin will ship your chocolates on January 18th!
Robin will be offering heart shaped chocolates for Valentine’s Day and though she is a local treasure, she does ship so if you are out of town you can still enjoy some of Colorado’s finest delivered to your door (or to the door of a loved one)! Check out her website for all her delectable offerings and where to buy.
